England, Great Britain, And The United Kingdom

England, Great Britain, and the UK are not one and the same.

England, Scotland and Wales comprise Great Britain. Great Britain and North Ireland comprise the United Kingdom of Grean Britain and Northern Ireland. It is all one big country.

England, Scotland and Wales are all on one island, across a channel from France. North Ireland is the northern part of a different island. On the southern part of that island is a distinct country called Ireland.

  1. Thanks for that shtikel. I do agree withh %99 of it. However, l'aniyas dayti(with my impoverished knowledge. A word I use to make me sound like an anav) I don't beleive you are precisly correct. You said the United Kingdom is a country. It is not a country, it is a kingdom of four different countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is like saying America is a country, not precisly correct. America is made up of a few countries: The United States(50 states), and all those little island countries that are under american rule(like: American Samoa, Virgin Islands, Guam etc....). I hope that explains that.
